Xbox Red Ring Repair
Have any of you had success with Xbox red ring repairs?
I have an elite with the three red bands (Ring Of Death). I am having it repaired but I have to wonder how permanent will this fix be. So what has been your experience? Frequent repairs? Maybe a few success stories out there that have never had to deal with it again?
As I understand it, the typical cause of this is a board that has warped due to the high heat in the box, and the repair is simply replacing the board or re-warping it back and re-soldering it. Logically I would have to think that the thing will just warp again. Sad thing is, I have never played for longer than an hour at any given time.
Sent mine off (non-elite) and it came back fixed within a week, haven’t had a problem since (this was a year and a half ago). I think nowadays if you send them off and it’s a motherboard problem which by the sound of it yours is, they replace your motherboard with a new one that has a jasper chipset which significantly reduces the chance of fault.
I’m unsure if they do this on the elite console though as the last time i checked (Around September last year) then were only doing this for all non-elite consoles.
